free car pool project

Free Car Pool project

Dear friends of Transition,

Have you ever been driving on the Waterfall Way heading out of town and noticed the same line of traffic that you are in turning off onto the Pacific Hwy to Coffs Harbour? Have you experienced frustration in noticing that most of those cars appear to have a single passenger? Do you wonder how you can hook up with other frustrated travellers also looking to save money and fuel?

Bellingen Shire Council and the Our Living Coast Alliance are pleased to announce the launch of the brand new Carpool Mid North Coast website project.  Like all the best ideas, Carpool Mid North Coast is very simple. The free, easy to use website helps match members with people taking the same journey, whether regularly or occasionally, and they share a vehicle which cuts the environmental and travel costs. It’s a win-win all round. The Carpool scheme includes a secure, free, carpool website, member car stickers and branded road signs which will identify the Pick Up and Set Down locations. Priority car parking spaces for cars in the Carpool will be identified in each council area by branded marking. A pilot scheme launched in 2009 in the Northern Rivers region has already proved highly successful.

Did you know? Carpooling just 2 days a week could save you $750* a year in fuel and reduce your carbon footprint by 2.6 tonnes
*On an average 100km return journey.

Registration is easy and obligation free – register today at www.carpoolmnc.org

Kind regards,
Zoe
