Ride2Work Day and "On Ya Bike" breakfast 17 October 2012

Hi there,

Ride2Work Day is just around the corner and Council is holding its On Ya Bike! community breakfast, inviting all residents, including those non-commuters, to go for a cruise around our beautiful Shire and tuck into a croissant or fresh fruit afterward!

This year I am also pleased to announce that all participating cyclists who join us for breakfast have the chance to win a Merida trail bike retailing at $700 (see attached image).

Council will not be organising coordinated rides this year but the Dorrigo-Urunga-Bellingen Bike Users Group are planning to, so please contact George Smith on agsmith8@bigpond.net.au if you are keen to join the BUG guys. And if you are planning on joining us for breakfast please let me know so that I can make sure I cater for you.

WHAT: Ride your bike to join others for a healthy community breakfast and go in the draw to win a trail bike donated by JR Cycles.
WHEN:  8am – 9am Wednesday 17 October 2012
WHERE: Cycle to/meet at Maam Gaduying Park (outside the Council Chambers)

You will love On Ya Bike:

-          an early morning ride through our beautiful Shire is a great way to start the day
-          reduce stress
-          free t-shirt
-          bike giveaway!
-          yummy free breakfast (croissants, fruit and yoghurt, gluten free toast with local macadamia nut butter)

Kind regards,
Zoe

Bellingen High School and Community Gardens

Bellingen High School and Community Garden -

The Garden has grown and thrived over the last year with the hard work of manager Charlie Brennan, the gardening students with Olivia and Benn and members of the broader community and Garden Committee.

We are now supervising regular Sunday afternoon gardening times from 2-4pm. Next month (October) we will be commencing Thursday afternoon sessions from 4-6pm.

Come along to learn what 's happening in the garden, lend a hand with tasks, help harvest and take home the produce, and socialise with fellow garden lovers.

The general public are welcomed to the garden after school hours. The garden is looking for regular gardeners to help maintain its luxuriance and health while we transition from a full-time paid manager to a fully volunteer-managed garden.

Please contact us via FaceBook-Bellingen High School and Community Garden page or call Annabella 0401225654.

Lyme disease protest 14 September 2012

Lyme disease protest North Sydney on Friday 14 September 2012

The following has been sent to Transition Bellingen by the  LymeLinks support networks ,
Many of us would like to attend this Friday's protest, but cannot due to poor health, distance etc.  But why not have your say anyway!  Attached is a sample letter that you may wish to use, or make up your own comments.  Please send it on Friday, or as close as you can, for maximum impact.  Protest from a distance using the wonders of modern technology!
Here is the link to "Letter to the Minister" on NSW Health website.  Simply copy and paste the text from the sample letter into the "Comment" section, or write your own comments.
You may also wish to do an email to a few politicians:
Coffs Harbour MPs
NSW Premier
Deputy Premier NSW
Again, simply copy and paste the email addresses into the "To" section of a new email, then copy and paste the text of the sample letter into the body of the email, modify/personalise the text as required, and press "send".
Please everyone take a couple of minutes to do this, and forward this to all your friends and supporters.
Together we can be the change that we need!
